People often ask me which social media platforms they should be on, this answer works for everyone:
You want to be where your audience is.
Really simple but it works, there is a tendency to want to be everywhere, even if your ideal customers aren't there. 
We get sucked into wanting to be `popular' and to be seen everywhere. As a result, we get completely overwhelmed, can't keep up, and end up sporadically posting across every platform with no real strategy or content plan.

A few months after the release of Google's new Penguin algorithm it is time to examine its impact and the moves webmasters can take to protect their sites from a penalty. After looking into hundreds of sites that were hit by Penguin 2.0, Search Engine Journal found that one thing they all had in common was high density of money keywords in anchor text. By contrast, sites that have a high volume of brand anchor terms, as well as many "other" or "noise" terms, can rest assured they are relatively safe. Amidst the furious growth of the technology that we use in our everyday lives, a common complaint is that all the gadgetry is decreasing the amount of face-to-face human contact (and thus ruining, or places less importance on, personal relationships). But what about the parents who can now video-chat with their sons and daughters who have moved across the country - or even across the ocean - to attend school? Or how about our ability to keep in regular contact with friends and family who live in different parts of the word? It’s also now much easier to find and get in touch with old friends through email and social networks.

It’s now an established fact that ranking high on Google can have a significant impact on winning new business. Little wonder then that many businesses adopt unscrupulous methods to optimize their web pages for higher search engine ranking. Google, on the other hand, has been continuously introducing improvements to its algorithms to improve the search experience for all its users. The recent rollout of Penguin 2.0, as the company has dubbed its latest algorithm update, is a case in point. Instead of the usual refresh, this time around, Google has completely revamped its algorithm to minimize web spam.
